The vineyard was planted with Syrah and Cabernet in 2005, realising a lifelong ambition for Perez Cruz winemaker German Lyon to make seriously small production wines from vines planted in his backyard. For me this can only be likened to growing some tommies and courgettes out of a couple of compost filled buckets in my small garden. But, when you cook and serve them up, boy do they taste good. This is a wonderfully balanced, black fruited belter. Partner with game dishes for a superb food match.
